Companies have for a long time struggled with leadership planning as well as sales and production planning
at the detailed level. The leadership team generally works hard to set the direction for the company.
However, many times this direction is not communicated well enough to the people within the company
that have the responsibility to execute the plans in order to move the company in the desired direction. |
 |
 |
Integrated business management is a set of processes that ensure that the leadership’s direction is communicated
and executed. The operative word in the last sentence is integrated. In order for the leadership direction to be executed, there
must be communication from top to bottom, side to side, and bottom to top. This is why the DIAMOND is so important. If the DIAMOND is lost (another way of saying not implemented), the direction set by the leadership team drops into a “black hole.”
This presentation looks at the elements of the DIAMOND and the integration of these elements.
The DIAMOND is customer focused, drives the delivery of the business plan, ensures that plans are integrated and realistic,
creates the company game plan, welcomes and anticipates external change, drives internal change through continuous
improvement, and deploys the strategic plan. Alignment of the DIAMOND is all about customers needing products, products
that have demand plans, demand plans that have supply plans, operational plans that have financial plans, results with
expectations, resources with needs, and desires with capabilities. A company and business can have all this if it implements
the DIAMOND at a Class A level. |
